Artwork may be in the following media: - Drawings, Crayon, Marker, Oil Pastels
- Painting, i.e. Oil, Watercolor, Acrylic
- Pencil Sketches (charcoal or color)
- Photography (black & white or color)
- Mixed Media (collage)
- Sculpture
- Video
Poetry may include, but are not limited to: - Acrostic poems
- Blank or Free Verse
- Cinquain, Diamante, Haiku
- Couplet, Quatrain, Sestet
- Ballad, Chorus, Epic poem
- Limerick or other funny verse
- Sonnet
Trees are the subject! Arbor Day celebrates trees. Tell us with your heart, words and images what you love about trees. Winners in each age category will be announced at the Dixon Homestead Library on Saturday, 4/21/07 at 10:00 am. Art, poetry and photography will be on exhibit at the Library. All contestants will be able to view their work on the Dumont Shade Tree Commission web site www.geocities.com/dumontshadetree and all contestants will receive a Dumont Arbor Day Certificate. The winner in each category will receive a prize. RULES: 1. Deadline: Wednesday 4/4/2007 by 3:00 pm. Students may submit artwork through their teachers before Monday 4/2/2007 at their School. All Dumont residents may submit artwork at the Dixon Homestead Memorial Library desk during Library hours starting Saturday Monday 3/26/2007 at 10:00 am. 2. Artistic Works: Size limit 9 inches x 12 inches. 3. Poetry: There are no limitations other than those that define the type of poem (i.e. iambic pentameter for an English-style sonnet). Please include a file on disk if composed on your computer. 4. Photography: Print Size Limit 8-1/2” x 11”. If possible, also include a digital image. 5. Video: Entries MUST be uploaded to whatever web host you are familiar with (Google Video, YouTube, Bolt.com). Send the URL of your video to:

6. Labeling: Please do not sign the front of your art until after the judging. The entry form must be completed in its entirety and included with the poem / artwork. All entries remain the property of the contestant, however, by entering artwork, a poem or a photograph, the contestant agrees to allow the entry to be on exhibit at the library for the duration of the exhibit, and also to allow an image of the object to be included in the web site and in any other publication, free or for sale, for the benefit of Dumont Shade Trees or the Dixon Homestead Library. Contestants who desire the return of their art must pick up their art no later than 1 week after the close of the exhibit.
