Dumont Dispatch - August 2007 edition

Council President Ellen ZamechanskyFrom Borough Council President Ellen Zamechansky:
The festivities will begin with the 2nd annual 5K run beginning and ending at Honiss School. This course is certified by USA Track and Field. In addition to the 5K run, there will be a 1 ½ mile walk and a ½ mile sprint to the finish race for children ages 5 – 10.  After the race, there will be an awards ceremony with lots of ribbons given in various categories. All proceeds from this race will go for the Ryan Caspare Fund to fight childhood cancer.

The festivities will continue at Memorial Park with Dumont Day. This year promises to be bigger and better than previous years. The stage will be non-stop all day with magic, music, and more. There will be vendors and crafts and rides for children of all ages. This is the main fundraiser of the year to help support the non-profit organizations in town.
To end the day will be our fireworks display at Dumont High School.  After numerous discussions about holding the fireworks on Sunday evening, this will be our second year having them on Saturday, Dumont Day. This will be a perfect ending of a wonderful day and no one has to worry about getting their children to school in the morning.
We have been hard at work and in the planning stages for months now.  Come support your town. Celebrate Dumont and all that it represents.
